The Church family enjoyed a July 4th vacation in Washington D.C. We saw fireworks, museums, and federal buildings, and enjoyed some great food. I brought along two bodies, four lenses and the tripod. We forgot to grab the Olympus XZ-1 high-end compact as we rushed out the door so the little Olympus E-420 DSLR was my camera of choice for Day One (Wednesday afternoon & evening). Overcast skies made for outstanding shadows and manageable contrast, and I used the ultra-wide ange lens for creative fun.
Then I changed my mind when I woke on July 4th morning - - I decided that I wanted to 'experience' D.C. instead of photograph D.C. So that was that - I didn't put a camera to my face the entire remaining time we were there.
Once in a while it's nice to look at things for what they are, and not for how they'll look in a photograph.
