An Evening Performance of the UVA Percussion Ensemble

April 28, 2014  •  Leave a Comment

Emily is performing in the University of Virginia Percussion Ensemble for class credit the second semester. This is an exciting thing for her as a first year student. It's 'off season' for the Cavalier Marching Band, which only performs during the football season, so the ensemble gives her a chance to play a variety of percussion instruments besides of her marching bass drum. She's in the middle-left on one of the two timpani sets. Many of the other students are friends of hers from the Marching Band.

The stage in Old Cabell Hall is lit mostly from above and is not evenly lit -- note the dim area at the front of the stage.  This and the other shots in the gallery were shot with the Zuiko 35-100mm f/2.0 zoom between f/2.0-2.8, about 1/100 sec., ISO 800, and with auto WB (2475) using the Olympus OM-D E-M1 body.
